In the commentary, a retired educator shared her worries on the future of the Chinese Language due to the decline in students speaking Mandarin. However, after learning about the initiatives introduced by MOE, Chinese Clan Associations and the Chinese community to create a conducive environment for the teaching and learning of Chinese in Singapore, the writer felt that we needed to seize these opportunities to learn Mandarin well. The writer added that the evolving technologies would accelerate the transformation of various things, an indication of more challenges for Chinese education in the future. The writer also encouraged the youths to join NIE to educate themselves on how they can be a chinese teacher.
