Singapura sebagai pusat persuratan Melayu

A/P Hadijah Rahmat wrote an article for Berita Harian where she opined Singapore was the centre of Malay literature. She also shared that the shift of the centre of Malay Literature to Kuala Lumpur only happened after the separation of Malaysia and Singapore. She continued the discussion on how 'the pulse of language and literature that began more than 700 years ago is still pulsating here (Singapore) with continued efforts by new generation activists to Islamic scholars, have played an important role in enabling Singapore to become a centre for early book printing, a pilgrimage stopover centre and a centre for the development of Malay language and literature in Malaya.'
