Researchers from the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice publish two journal articles

 

Researchers from the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP), Dr Alwyn Vwen Yen Lee, Education Research Scientist, Dr Katherine Guangji Yuan, Education Research Scientist, Dr Teo Chew Lee, Senior Education Research Scientist, and Mr Ong Kian Keong Aloysius, Research Fellow, published a journal article titled “ Designing Informal Knowledge Building Learning Spaces: Students’ Knowledge Building Design Studio” in the Qwerty – Open and Interdisciplinary Journal of Technology, Culture and Education’s special issue. The article presents a case study of designing a learning environment for cultivating collaborative knowledge creation with student agency for sustaining ideas. A total of 86 elementary and secondary students and 1964 students’ online notes in three iterations were gathered for this study. The results demonstrate that students enjoyed the high-level agency in co-creating the inquiry structure, exploring diverse ideas, and deepening their understanding, and sustaining knowledge creation in students’ Knowledge Building Design Studio (sKBDS).

Dr Alwyn and Dr Katherine also co-wrote a journal article titled “Infrastructuring for Knowledge Building: Advancing a Framework for Sustained Innovation” in the aforementioned special issue. This article explores the idea of infrastructuring as an emergent, multi-level approach that can shed new light on ways to address the challenges of implementing innovations in diverse contexts as well as sustaining them over time, as well as offer some new insights into how infrastructuring can be conceptualized to expand and sustain knowledge building innovations.
