Researchers from the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice publish a journal article in the International Journal of Science and Mathematics Education journal

Dr Tay Lee Yong, Teaching Fellow at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP), Dr Melvin Chan, Assistant Dean of Knowledge Management at the Office of Education Research (OER), and Miss Thaslim Begum Aiyoob, Research Assistant at OER, published a research paper titled “Learning of Mathematics: A Metacognitive Experiences Perspective” in the International Journal of Science and Mathematics Education. The paper discussed on the study that they conducted based on a mixed-method design to find out the implication of metacognitive knowledge, regulation and experiences on learning and performance in mathematics. The results suggest that the path towards more inclusive, active participation of low achieving students in the learning of mathematics could be better mitigated through the heart (i.e., the affect) rather than wholly via the brain (i.e., cognition).
