Professor Low Honoured with Distinguished NUS Alumni Award
The NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Distinguished Arts and Social Sciences Alumni Award was conferred on Professor Low Ee Ling on 10 July 2025. The award recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation, community, university and/or faculty, or to the advancement of the arts and social sciences. In accepting the award, Professor Low thanked the FASS — especially the Department of English, Linguistics & Theatre Studies – for laying the foundation of her lifelong career in Linguistics. She joins a distinguished group of past recipients, including former President S.R. Nathan, ESM Goh Chok Tong, Ambassador Chan Heng Chee and acclaimed author, Ms Suchen Christine Lim.
