Professor Elizabeth Farley-Ripple presents her work on knowledge mobilization and research use in U.S. education
On 5 August 2025, the project team, in collaboration with the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC), Research-Practice-Policy Group (RPPG), and Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP), organised a public webinar entitled "Knowledge Mobilization and Research Use in U.S. Education: Strategies and Challenges", in line with the theme of the EdeX-FLC project. Invited speaker, Professor Elizabeth Farley-Ripple from the School of Education, University of Delaware, shared her experience with knowledge mobilization and research use in U.S. education through an ecological lens, drawing on her work from the Center for Research Use in Education.
The talk highlights reasons for optimism, including the critical role of intermediaries and knowledge brokers; collaborative models for research, such as research-practice partnerships; and investments in infrastructure can offer opportunities to strengthen connections between research, policy, and practice. The conclusion underscores the need to view KMb as an ongoing, systemic process that bridges boundaries and considers the scale and diversity of the U.S. system. The webinar attracted 35 attendees who were encouraged to reflect on their roles within this ecosystem and consider actionable steps to support the uptake of research-informed practices.
