BH noted that a study by NIE found that students were more interested in school when parents care about their school life by engaging in activities, such as parent and teacher meetings or school events. Dr Melvin Chan, Assistant Dean, Knowledge Management from NIE’s Office of Education Research, who led the study, noted that decades of research showed that parents’ involvement in schools was important for student engagement levels and benefits increased when parents were more involved.
