Dr Teo Chew Lee Presents a Seminar, Professional Development Session and Panel Discussion

Dr Teo Chew Lee, Senior Research Scientist at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice, presented a seminar on cognitive flexibility, a professional development session on the Learning Sciences, and at a panel discussion on learning analytics.

On 19 November 2021, Dr Teo and Dr Nastassja Fischer, Research Fellow (RF), Centre for Lifelong Learning and Individualised Cognition (CLIC), NTU, presented at a professional development session at Unity Secondary School, sharing with the school’s teachers recent findings in the Learning Sciences, and how this can support the instructional model adopted by the school. Dr Teo and Dr Fischer also presented at a seminar organised by the Science of Learning in Education Centre, at NIE NTU, along with Dr Ryutaro Uchiyama, CLIC RF, on 25 November. They spoke on cognitive flexibility and its relationship to psychological domains like the other subtypes of executive function and also discussed the relationship between cognitive flexibility, psychological development and education.

Dr Teo also participated in a panel discussion at the International Conference on Computers in Education on 24 November, titled “Leveraging Student-Generated Ideas (SGI) to Facilitate Socio-constructivist Learning and Conceptual Change: The Roles of Technology in SGI Learning”. She discussed how teachers can leverage on students’ ideas by using learning analytics and their idea trajectories to facilitate learning.

These presentations were informed by research findings from Dr Teo’s project on “Uncovering the Process and Outcome of Computer-Supported Collaborative-Learning (CSCL) using Multimodal Learning Analytics: New Environments and Assessment for CSCL in the learning continuum”.
