Dr Tan Aik Lim and Asst Prof Azilawati Jamaludin Publish in Education Sciences

Dr Tan Aik Lim, Research Fellow at the Office of Education Research (OER), and Asst Prof Azilawati Jamaludin, OER Asst Dean (Science of Learning in Education) and Asst Prof at NIE’s Learning Sciences and Assessment Academic Group, have published in Education Sciences, an open access journal.

Dr Tan is lead author, and Asst Prof Jamaludin and Prof Robyn Gillies, School of Education, University of Queensland, are co-authors on the article, titled “A Case Study: Using a Neuro-Physiological Measure to Monitor Students’ Interest and Learning during a Micro:Bit Activity”. The article reports findings from case studies where the Empatica E4 wristband was used to collect electrodermal activity (EDA) data to capture instances of triggered interest. The study triangulated the data with behavioral observations and found that EDA is a possible measure for recording and tracing interest development in students, and providing a more nuanced and objective measure of interest development.
