Dr Khor Ean Teng Karen Publishes Four Papers
Dr Khor Ean Teng Karen, Research Scientist at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice, has published four papers on the topics of learning analytics and using the Decomposed Theory of Planned Behaviour (DTPB) to analyse working adults’ use of microlearning.
Dr Khor’s papers on learning analytics “A Learning Analytics Approach Using Clustering Data Mining for Learners Profiling to Extrapolate e-Learning Behaviours” and “A learning analytics conceptual framework to understand networked learning in the workplace” are published in the proceedings of the Innovate Learning Summit 2021 (which has an acceptance rate of 25-39%) and the 13th International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies respectively. The first paper details a study aimed to gain insights into patterns related to diversity of learners and evaluate the relationship between learners’ factors and their academic performance, and the second paper details a study which used analytic methods such as social network analysis and text analysis to understand learning interactions and learning needs at the workplace.
Her third paper, “Investigating working adults’ intentions to participate in microlearning using the decomposed theory of planned behaviour” was published in the British Journal of Educational Technology (impact factor: 4.93), and used DTPB with working adults to assess its ability to predict intentions to participate in microlearning and also identify the significant factors that drive microlearning usage decisions. Lastly, “Working Adults’ Intentions to Participate in Microlearning: Assessing for Measurement Invariance and Structural Invariance”, published in Frontiers in Psychology (impact factor 2.99), studies the factors that explain working adults' microlearning usage intentions using DTPB, specifically, the differences, if any, in the factors that explained microlearning acceptance across gender, age and proficiency in technology.
