Associate Professor Rita Elaine Silver speaks at the China Center for Language Planning and Policy Studies’ online seminar

Assoc Prof Rita Elaine Silver, Associate Dean of Research Design & Integrity at the Office of Education Research (OER), and Associate Professor at NIE’s English Language & Literature Academic Group (ELL SG), was invited to speak at a webinar titled “Academic Publishing in Language Education and Language Policy: Conundrums and Internationalisation” organised by the China Center for Language Planning and Policy. Held on 22 September 2022, Assoc Prof Rita discussed current issues in international publishing for language education and language policy. She focused on the expectations, responsibilities, and conundrums of internationalisation – including the pressure to publish in “high-tier” journals – against the continuing need for highly contextualised, local studies and dissemination to students, teachers, and policymakers. In addition, she also provided some practical tips on selecting journals for publication, contacting editors, and sustaining the review process.
