Assoc Prof Chow Jia Yi Co-publishes Book and Presents Paper on Non-linear Pedagogy
Assoc Prof Chow Jia Yi, Assoc Dean (Programme and Student Development) with NIE’s Office of Teacher Education, co-published a book and gave a keynote address on non-linear pedagogy.
His book Dynamics of Skill Acquisition: An Ecological Dynamics Approach, which is now in its second edition, features insights about how a Nonlinear Pedagogy approach facilitates the acquisition of motor skills.
Assoc Prof Chow also presented a paper titled “The role of Nonlinear Pedagogy in sports” at the 3rd Scientific Conference on Motor Skill Acquisition, which was held at University of Jyvaskyla and Research Institute for Olympic Sports, Kisakallio, Finland. During his paper presentation, he shared on principles underpinning a Nonlinear Pedagogy with respect to the teaching and learning of sports and how these principles can be translated into practice.
Findings from his OER-funded project “Nonlinear pedagogy and its impact on the learning process during the acquisition of a sports skill” contributed to both the book and paper presentation.
