Introduction to NTU Training Management System (TMS)

How to Create an NTU Training Management System (TMS) Account

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1What is the TMS?
A:

TMS is the NTU Training Management System where it empowers you, the learner, to seamlessly manage your professional development journey — from course registration, management of schedules, viewing of results to certificate issuance — all in one platform. It is designed to support your re-skilling and upskilling goals.

Q2How do I access TMS?
A:

You can access TMS here. Please use the school filter and select “National Institute of Education (NIE)” to find NIE courses on TMS course catalogue.

Q3Do I need to register for an account with TMS?
A:

You will need to register for a TMS account if you are signing up for a course with NIE or NTU. This also applies to courses where you are sponsored by your organisation or company to attend.

For learners sponsored by their organisation or company, please create a TMS account using your organisation or company email address as email contact, e.g., xxx@moe.edu.sg. This will facilitate payment and billing process.

Registration for TMS account is free and you only have to do it once. Do view our video guide on how to create a TMS account.

Q4How do I know if I have successfully registered for a TMS account?
A:

You will see the message “Your profile information was submitted”.

The registration for TMS account is only complete after you submit the missing fields under Learner > My Profile. This includes your date of birth, citizenship, mailing and residential address.

Do view our video guide on how to create a TMS account.

Q5I am interested in an NIE course but I would like my organisation or company to sponsor the fees. Can I register for the course in TMS first and then NIE sends the invoice to my organisation or company for payment?
A:

Please contact us at inservice@nie.edu.sg regarding this as NIE is unable to redirect a self-registration course to your organisation or company for payment of fees. In such cases, we adopt a customised approach to payment.

Q6I am interested in a course but I cannot find the “Apply” icon.
A:

Please click on “Register Interest” and we will get in touch with you when the next available class is open for registration.

Q7I have signed up for a course which starts on 1 June. It is now 1 May and I have not heard from NIE.
A:

Our registration for courses usually closes one month before the course start date. We will contact you if the course is confirmed to proceed after registration closes.

If your course requires access to NTULearn (NTU Learning Management System) for course material and assignment submission, you will receive a system generated NTULearn account activation email about two weeks before the course start date.

Q8What happens if I do not create the TMS account before the course starts?
A:

You will not have access to the course material deposited for participants in NTULearn by the course lecturer who uses this learning management system.

Your training record, results, if applicable, and certificates will also not be available in TMS for you.

It takes only three steps for you to register for a TMS account. Registration is free and you only have to do this once. Do view our video guide on how to create a TMS account.

Q9I would like to withdraw from a course.
A:

If this course application is sponsored by your organisation or company, please inform your organisation’s or company’s learning administrator, coordinator or HR of the withdrawal. We liaise with the person in-charge on the withdrawal.

If you are paying for the course yourself, please raise the request via TMS at least two weeks before the course start date.

Q10What is the cancellation or withdrawal policy for courses?
A:

Refunds requested prior to the course commencement date may be subjected to an administrative fee and the deduction of any non-refundable pre-paid amounts imposed by the vendor.

No refunds will be granted once the programme/course has commenced.

Q11I have forgotten my password to TMS. What do I do?
A:

You may click on “forgot password” in the TMS login main page. The password reset link will be sent to your TMS contact email address.

Q12I saw a course in the TMS catalogue and would like to customise it for my organisation or company. How do I go about doing this?
A:

Please write in to inservice@nie.edu.sg with details of the course code and title that you are interested in. We will get in touch with you.

Q13Whom do I contact if I still have questions?
A:

You may contact us at inservice@nie.edu.sg. Our NIE professional staff will get in touch with you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1I am an educator from MOE. I have signed up for a course through the MOE OPAL system and I was asked to register for a TMS account. I have done that. What do I need to do now?
A:

No further action is required from you. We will work with MOE to process your registration via TMS.

Q2I am a direct hire staff in an MOE independent school. I am attending an NIE customised course for my school. Is the MOE educator rate applicable to me?
A:

Yes. The MOE educator rate is applicable to direct hires and other school staff, including Allied Educators, Contract- Adjunct and Flexi-Adjunct staff from MOE schools. However, this rate is not applicable to relief teachers.

Q3Why must I use MOE email address as the contact email? What happens if I do not use my MOE email address?
A:

Where applicable, educators from MOE will pay the MOE educator rate for NIE professional development courses. In order to differentiate MOE educators from the public who pay a different rate, we take our reference from the contact email, e.g., xxx@moe.edu.sg, xxx@schools.gov.sg, to determine the course fee.

Q4I have xxx@moe.edu.sg, xxx@moe.gov.sg and xxx@schools.gov.sg email accounts. Which one should I use for the TMS account? Can NIE merge my training records?
A:

We recommend that you use the email address that you most frequently use as your contact email. NIE is unable to merge multiple learning records into one.

Q5I cannot find courses from MOE OPAL in the TMS.
A:

You will not find courses from MOE OPAL in the TMS because these are two separate systems. OPAL is a digital learning platform owned by MOE. Please continue to register for OPAL courses in OPAL, and NIE will liaise with MOE officers to process your registration.

In TMS, you will find continuing education and training (CET) courses offered by NIE and five other CET units from NTU, i.e., Academy for Professional and Continuing Education (PACE), Nanyang Executive Education (NEE), NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur), Nanyang Centre for Public Administration (NCPA) and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKC Medicine).

Q6What do I need to do after I sign up for a course in MOE OPAL?
A:

You need to register for a TMS account if you have not done so. Do view our video guide on how to create a TMS account.

If you have a valid TMS account, no further action is required from you. We will work with MOE to process your registration via TMS.
