TaT Series:

How Does Values Education Relate to Quality Teaching?

Professor Toomey’s presentation will draw on his work with the Australian Government’s Values Education Research Project and his subsequent research on Values-based Education (VbE). First, he will unpack what constitutes the craft of values teaching. Second, he will show how VbE and quality teaching are the two sides of the same coin. Third, he will provide some practical examples of the classroom techniques that some Australian “thinking teachers” have fashioned to enable them to implement the approach to teaching and learning. A/P Ng will share the Singapore perspective providing the context in which both scholars could participate in active dialogue with the student teachers moderated by A/P Jude Chua to deepen the conversation on the topic.
