NIE Visitors Learning Centre

Note: The NIEVLC will be closed on 9 and 15 May 2024 for maintenance. Visit our virtual tour for NIEVLC.
The theme at NIEVLC is about NIE in the “Past, Present and Future”. Focusing on Singapore’s teacher education development story, it charts our journey from the 1950s that forms the building block to what we have established today and the possible future of teacher education. Visitors are free to take a self-directed tour around the five zones within the Centre to gain a deeper understanding of NIE.

The National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore warmly welcomes visitors to the NIE Visitors Learning Centre (NIEVLC). The centre was launched by Mr Ng Chee Meng, Minister for Education (Schools) and Second Minister for Transport, at the Caring Teacher Awards 2018 presentation ceremony on 5 April 2018.

The first of its kind, NIEVLC encapsulates the significance of NIE’s contributions to the nation. From its early years as the Institute of Education to a global recognition of its education research and schools collaboration, the NIEVLC tells Singapore’s teacher education development story.

In vivid details, NIEVLC brings to life NIE’s legacy, future orientation and showcases how it supports Singapore's education system. Through interactive animations, multimedia displays and more, the NIEVLC reveals the heart and soul of the teacher development story of this institute.

The Centre highlights NIE’s main emphases and strategic thrusts that have continually raised its teacher education and education leadership programmes and its research to attain its reputation as one of the most highly sought-after institutions amongst the best teacher education colleges and institutes in the world today.
