Dean's Office
The Dean's Office plays an integral role in the strategic communications and engagement efforts of OfR, effectively conveying its strategic positioning and policies to MOE, NIE, and other stakeholders. The team works synergistically with other programme offices at NIE to ensure that research excellence and insights inform institutional and national education agendas.
The Office also supports management in strategising and planning for key milestones and deliverables, provides secretarial support for important meetings and prepares position papers for senior-level platforms, oversees KPI tracking and tranche reporting to ensure research outcomes are translated into measurable impact aligned with OfR’s strategic aims.

Research Support & Grant Management Unit
The Research Support and Grants Management (RSGM) Unit is instrumental in providing research support and pre to post award administration for internal and external research grants, from application to close. The unit also supports capacity building initiatives at NIE by fostering the development of high-quality grant applications, promoting a vibrant research culture, and facilitating networking opportunities. Specific support provided to NIE faculty in their grant applications and administration include:
- Notification of internal and external grant opportunities
- Coordination of internal and external grant applications
- Advice on proposed grant budgets
- Supporting the internal review process in NIE
- Administration post-grant activities such as grant variations and extension, progress reporting
- Sharing updates on funding agencies’ requirements and guidelines as and when needed

Human Resource & Finance Unit
The Human Resource and Finance Unit plays a pivotal role in the oversight and compliance of HR and finance policies and research administrative processes for both project-related and non-project-related matters.
The Unit supports faculty, researchers and administrative staff in Admin and HR processes that encompass the appointment and reappointment of faculty and research staff, recruitment, performance appraisal, staff learning and development for academic, research, and administrative staff, as well as managing visiting consultancy applications and applications for part-time student assistants and transcribers.
It also supports in Admin and Finance processes including oversight and management of OfR funding, tranche funding, procurement, processing of claims, maintenance of financial records and provides financial updates to the funding agency, the Ministry of Education.
