让混合学习在本地学府开花结果

Dr Wong Lung Hsiang, the writer, a senior research scientist from NIE, noted on Lianhe Zaobao that MOE had continued to implement blended learning in all secondary schools in 2021. Given that it had been a year since the launch of blended learning, the writer felt that it was timely to look into the difference between blended learning and home-based learning and if Singapore had the conditions for blended learning to flourish.

The writer opined that Singapore's secondary schools had a higher level of "readiness" for blended learning than the majority of other countries and made two suggestions on how to improve blended learning. Firstly, teachers of differing abilities and teaching experience could be grouped together to support one another, collaborate on designing blended learning lesson plans and developing teaching resources, as well as implementing them separately and reviewing them together. Secondly, teachers could incorporate home-based learning tasks into each lesson plan, gradually increasing or changing the type of tasks to allow teachers and students to become more comfortable with them.
