Shinmin Daily noted comments by senior lecturer from NIE's Psychology and Child & Human Development Department, Dr Kit Phey Ling that it was important for parents to choose a school that best fitted the child's overall learning needs. She shared that the significance of having affiliated schools was to preserve the school's cultures and values, and it was important to strike a balance between admitting affiliated and non-affiliated students. To that end, she noted that the number of places for non-affiliated students in affiliated schools had increased over the years.
