Why are students behaving so badly in and out of class?

Dr Wong Hwei Ming, Senior Education Research Scientist at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP), was interviewed by Steven Chia, presenter at CNA, on their podcast titled, “Why are students behaving so badly in and out of class?”. The podcast discussed the recent viral videos of students displaying poor discipline in classrooms and beating up fellow classmates. The discussion seeks to find out whether these behaviours are signals that situations in schools have changed in a big way. Consequently, should classroom management change, and how can teachers better communicate with their students today.
