Safer Borrowing at NIE Library

NIE Library has enhanced our safety measures to protect all users while supporting teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here are two of the latest measures that were implemented.

Sanitised Library Materials

A new book sanitiser is used to treat all returned library materials before they are returned to the shelves for borrowing. Ultraviolet-C is used to sanitise the covers and pages of books. Twelve books can be sanitised at the same time and each cycle only requires 90 seconds. This greatly reduces the turn-around time and allows returned materials to be ready for borrowing more quickly.

Contactless Item Pick-up

To support users, NIE Library has upgraded the SMART Lockers with more compartments to meet the rising demand for contactless collection. About 75% of the Library physical materials are available for reservation and collection through the SMART Locker. Library materials can be picked up from the SMART Locker at Block 4, Level 1.
