Personal Learning Device with Dr Wong Lung Hsiang on Capital 958

The Personal Learning Device (PLD) initiative will be implemented in all MOE secondary schools by the end of this year. The same initiative will also be piloted in five primary schools.

Under the initiative, each student will either be equipped a personal notebook computer or tablet computer to support one’s learning in and out of classroom. The PLD initiative is expected to significantly elevate the effectiveness of blended learning and home-based learning and facilitate self-directed learning. To complement the initiative, the MOE will enhance the Internet connectivity in the school campuses and ICT support, generate learning materials to foster students’ digital literacies and cyber-wellness, and provide tips to parents on how to support their children’s learning with PLD.

Dr Wong Lung Hsiang shares his thoughts on this new initiative.
