OER-AST Research Webinar: Nurturing and Inspiring a Sense of Purpose and Meaning in our Youth
On 24 March 2022, the fourth OER-AST Research Webinar was jointly organised by the Academy of Singapore Teachers and the Office of Education Research (OER). Themed “Nurturing and Inspiring a Sense of Purpose and Meaning in our Youth”, the webinar sought to provide research-based insights on the topic of Character and Citizenship Education.
The presentations, in order of appearance were:
- Assoc Prof Mary Anne Heng, from NIE’s Policy, Curriculum and Leadership Academic Group, with her keynote titled: “Nurturing and Inspiring a Sense of Purpose and Meaning in our Youth”;
- Dr Johannis Auri Bin Abdul Aziz, OER Research Fellow, who delivered a presentation titled “Purpose and Meaning for Singaporean Society: The Impact of the Future of Work on Individual Purpose and the Role of Education”; and
- Ms Jean Tan, Lead Specialist (Character and Citizenship Education), Student development Curriculum Division 1, MOE, discussed “Purpose Development in the Character and Citizenship Education 2021 Curriculum”.
The webinar concluded with a question and answer segment, moderated by Assoc Prof Suzanne Choo, Asst Dean (BA/BSc (Ed)) at the Office of Teacher Education and Assoc Prof at NIE’s English Language and Literature Academic Group, and was attended by approximately 250 participants.
