Dr Wong Hwei Ming Interviewed on the Morning Express

Dr Wong Hwei Ming, Research Scientist at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP), Office of Education Research, was interviewed on MediaCorp Channel 8’s morning news – Morning Express (晨光第一线) – on 20 September 2021 on the challenges that students are facing as their academic journey falls in the shadow of this global pandemic.

Dr Wong, who has been a part-time school counsellor for over 18 years, shared how the recent adjustments in schools in response to the global pandemic might lead to some challenges in students’ socio-emotional development. Students might feel lonely or withdrawn due to the reduction of face to face interactions. She also noted that it is harder to build rapport over screens and this might affect the development of socio-emotional skills and stress management of a student.
