Associate Professor Lee Ngan Hoe speaks to MOE’s Humanities Branch officers


Following a previous talk given to the officers from both the Ministry of Education (MOE)’s Humanities and English Language and Literature branch in April 2022, Assoc Prof Lee Ngan Hoe from the Mathematics & Mathematics Education Academic Group (MME AG), was invited to provide consultation to about 60 officers from MOE’s Humanities Branch on the plans addressing metacognition in the curriculum for a range of subjects and levels on 17 August 2022. Officers included those from helming the Geography (Secondary and Pre-University), History (Secondary and Pre-University), Social Studies (Primary and Secondary), Retail Operations (Secondary), Principles of Accounts (Secondary), Elements of Business Skills (Secondary).

During the session, representatives from the subject groups presented their plans in addressing the development of students’ metacognition in the respective areas of specialty, and articulated the challenges they face as well as the questions they had.  After each presentation, A/P Lee provided his inputs on the plans presented, as well as addressed the challenges and questions raised.  At the end of the session, he also consolidated the challenges and provided advice and suggestions on the way forward for the plans discussed.
