Sharing Session by NIE to MOE English Language and Literature (ELL) Branch

The Science of Learning (SoL) in the Context of Literacy and Language-related Areas – A Sharing by the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC), was an online sharing session to the MOE English Language and Literature (ELL) branch specialists and members that took place on 12 May 2023, featuring presentations on reading networks (Dr Wu Chiao-Yi), early language learning with eBooks (Dr Sun He), and sensor technologies in language assessment (Assoc Prof Vahid Aryadoust). The speakers discussed the impact of cognitive and neural factors on reading, the benefits of enhanced eBooks for language acquisition, and the integration of sensor technologies in language assessment research. Breakout room discussions facilitated further exploration of the topics, and fruitful conversations centered around future collaboration between MOE ELL specialists and NIE researchers. The session concluded with optimism for applying research findings to enhance language education in the Ministry of Education.
