ELL's MA (by coursework) student, Qiu Yue, wins the 'Best Paper Award for Postgraduate Students' at the International Congress on English Language Education and Applied Linguistics (ICELEAL 2022)

We are delighted to announce that Qiu Yue from the English Language and Literature Academic Group of National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University, is the recipient of the 'Best Paper Award for Postgraduate Students' at the International Congress on English Language Education and Applied Linguistics (ICELEAL 2022). The ICELEAL conference was co-organized by the Department of English Language Education, the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies and the Centre for Research on Linguistics and Language Studies at the Education University of Hong Kong.

Qiu Yue’s paper is entitled “Cognitive Load measured by eye tracking in a multimodal listening assessment”. It investigates the differences in cognitive load, as indicated by gaze behaviors measured through eye-tracking, across the four sections of a multimodal academic listening test. Qiu Yue is currently pursuing a Master's degree at NIE, where she is conducting research on the use of sensor technologies, such as eye-tracking and mouse-tracking, in language assessment.
