Dr Michael Tan Publishes a Book on Makerspaces

Makerspaces, Innovation and Science Education

Dr Michael Tan, Education Research Scientist at the Office of Education Research, has published a book titled Makerspaces, Innovation and Science Education: How, Why, and What For?

The book, published by Routledge, provides an overview on a range of theories in science and technology that inform the different ways in which makerspaces—an indispensable site for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) instruction—can be educative. Dr Tan also discusses the ethical dimensions of STEM education, in thinking about the kinds of STEM education that could be useful for open futures.
