Dr Lim Yang Teck Kenneth speaks at three different events on Generative AI, Learning and neuroergonomics

Dr Lim Yang Teck Kenneth, Senior Education Research Scientist at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP), was invited to speak on a myriad of topics at three different events.

  1. He was invited to speak at the International Science Youth Forum (ISYF) 2024 in Hwa Chong Institution, Singapore. The forum was held from 8 to 12 January 2024, with about 35 teachers representing schools locally as well as from the ASEAN region and further afield. With the theme “Education for Sustainable Development” in mind, Dr Lim shared the work of his team and students on learning at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI), physiology, EEG, our environment and well-being (the Life2Well Project). He also shared on student projects leveraging AI in the identification of migratory bird species in Singapore and one that is themed on the use of Augmented Reality (AR) in the preservation of cultural heritage in school campuses.

  2. Dr Lim was then invited by the leadership team in Deyi Secondary School to facilitate a discussion on Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Learning among the Professional Learning Community at Deyi Secondary School on 17 January 2024. Besides sharing the work of his team, he also shared several examples of the applicability of the Life2Well approach and Generative AI, in relation to disciplinary domains ranging from Physics to Language Education, Sports Science and even Art.

  3. Finally, he was invited to share the work of his team and students whom he mentors with A-level Biology teachers and officers from the Curriculum Planning & Development Division, Ministry of Education. The sharing session was conducted through the invitation of the Natural Sciences & Science Education Academic Group (NSSE AG) from NIE, as part of the in-service course 'INS2234 Use of Microbits and Sensors in A-level Biology Practical Work', and was held at the Science Education Laboratory II at NIE on 26 January 2024.
