Dr Karen Khor presents at the 29th Global Chinese Conference on Computers in Education
Dr Karen Khor Ean Teng, Education Research Scientist at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP), participated in the 29th Global Chinese Conference on Computers in Education held in Wuxi, China, where she presented her research on the effects of scaffolding strategies in a generative AI chatbot on student behavioral engagement. Her work examining how different scaffolding techniques, such as those promoting conceptual understanding and reflective thinking, can shape the quality of student-chatbot interactions and support meaningful learning. Her work drew attention for its innovative approach to leveraging Generative AI to enhance student interaction and learning outcomes.
She was also invited to serve as a panelist in the conference forum on Generative AI–Driven Teacher Learning and Professional Development. During the panel, she shared insights on how Generative AI technologies can be meaningfully integrated into teacher education programs to enhance reflective practice, support personalized learning, and promote ongoing professional development. In the forum, she highlighted that generative AI is rapidly transforming teacher education by offering innovative tools for lesson planning, student assessment, and professional learning. The discussion focused on the evolving role of generative AI in teacher education, showcasing its current applications, implications, and how it is perceived by teachers.
