Dr Jeanne Ho Shares her Research on School Leadership
Dr Jeanne Ho, Senior Teaching Fellow at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice, has published a journal article and presented a paper at the American Educational Research Association 2021 Annual Meeting (AERA 2021) on leadership in Singapore schools.
The journal article is published in Educational Management Administration & Leadership, and is titled “Vice-principals as leaders: Role ambiguity and role conflicts faced by vice-principals in Singapore”. It is based on findings from Dr Ho’s research project “Vice-principals in Singapore: Key Leadership Roles, Enablers and Constraints”, and Dr Ho’s co-authors, Dr Trivina Kang, Assoc Dean (Professional and Leadership Development) at the Office of Graduate Studies and Professional Learning, and Senior Lecturer at NIE’s Policy, Curriculum and Leadership Academic Group, and Dr Imran Sha’ari, former Research Scientist at the Office of Education Research, are also collaborators on Dr Ho’s project. NIE staff/students can access the journal for free through the LIBRIS portal at https://login.libproxy.nie.edu.sg/login.
Dr Ho also presented a paper at AERA 2021 on 9 April 2021 on “Ecological and Complexity Leadership in a Cluster’s Diffusion of an Innovation across and within Schools”. This was based on Dr Ho’s project “Diffusing Education Innovations at Different Levels of the System: Perspectives from Ecological Leadership”, which sought to understand how leadership was enacted at various ecological levels in the diffusion of an innovation across and within schools, and findings affirmed that leadership was enacted by both formal and informal leaders.
