Dr Elizabeth Kim co-publishes a first-authorship paper in the British Journal of Developmental Psychology

Dr Elizabeth Kim, Education Research Scientist from the Centre for Research in Child Development (CRCD), co-wrote a journal article titled “The influence of socioeconomic status and appearance-reality understanding on pre-schoolers' sharing and generosity” in the British Journal of Developmental Psychology, alongside Dr Nastassja L. Fischer, Research Fellow in the Schools Workgroup at Nanyang Technological University-Centre for Lifelong Learning and Individualised Cognition (NTU-CLIC) as well as researchers from the National University of Singapore (NUS). The article is a first-authorship paper which explores the influences of socioeconomic status (SES) and theory of mind (ToM) skills on young children’s sharing behaviour and generosity, while controlling their age, working memory and language skills. The findings highlight the impact of children’s ability to hold different views of realty and their family’s education levels on the development of sharing and generosity in early childhood.
