Dr Andrew Pereira publishes a journal article and presents at three conferences
Dr Andrew Pereira, Education Research Scientist at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice (CRPP), co-published a journal article titled "Harnessing research practice partnership and pedagogically productive talk for Lesson Study" in the International Journal for Lesson and Learning Studies. This paper explores how pedagogically productive talk (PPT) and reflexive practices foster equitable and dialogic interactions within teacher–Koshi partnerships during the Lesson Study (LS) process. It examines teachers’ and Koshis’ perceptions and experiences of PPT in addressing challenges and enhancing collaboration.
He also presented at the following conferences:
1. 11th International Conference on Education 2025 (ICEDU 2025) in Bangkok Thailand on 7 April 2025, where he gave a presentation titled “The Role of Emotional Capital in Enhancing Teacher Professionalism: Balancing Emotion-Based Knowledge, Skills, and Capacities with Pedagogical Practice. This study examines teachers' emotional capital, defined as emotion-based knowledge, management skills, and capacities that connect self-processes to group membership and social context.
2. International Conference on Learning and Teaching 2025 (ICLT 2025) on 23 May 2025, organised by The Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. Dr Pereira gave a presentation titled “Critical Affective Literacy for Values Education”. This presentation advocates expanding social and emotional learning (SEL) to incorporate computer-assisted learning (CAL) principles not only within Citizenship and Character Education (CCE) but also in language, humanities, and social studies, enhancing students' critical engagement with societal issues and emotional literacy. It details an intervention in Singapore schools, highlighting a collaborative effort between educators and a school to address complex educational challenges using CAL-based pedagogies.
3. International Conference on Knowledge, Culture, and Change in Organizations on 13 June 2025, organised by the University of Nicosia, Nicosia, Cyprus. Dr Pereira and Ms Carina Koh, Research Associate from CRPP, gave an online presentation titled “Reimagining Networks and Clusters: Enacting Bottom-Up Research Practice Partnership”.
