Assoc Profs Steven Tan and Isabella Wong Publish Book Chapter
Assoc Prof Steven Tan, from NIE’s Physical Education & Sports Science Academic Group, and Assoc Prof Isabella Wong, from NIE’s Psychology and Child & Human Development Academic Group, have published a book chapter in Video Pedagogy: Theory and Practice. The book conceptualises the ways in which video has created a pedagogy for current learning and teaching practices, disciplines, and environments and is edited by Assoc Prof Arezou Zalipour and Dr Dilani Gedera from the Auckland University of Technology.
The book chapter, titled “Video as an instructional tool in transforming teachers’ pedagogical practices and mentoring skills in physical education” is based on Assoc Profs Tan and Wong’s project “Beginning Physical Education Teachers’ (BPETs) Experience of Continuing Professional Development and School-Based Mentoring”. In this project, BPETs were paired with a mentor, and their lessons and the mentor’s mentoring practices were video recorded to serve as baseline data to evaluate the mentoring framework and help develop continued professional development for Physical Education teachers.
