The writer participated in this year’s Teachers’ Conference and Excel Fest where Min launched the Singapore Centre for Character and Citizenship Education (CCE). With the establishment of the centre, the writer believed all teachers would benefit as they would have the opportunity to receive more systematic training to master innovative teaching methods, improve teaching efficacy and become more competent CCE teachers. The writer noted that MOE had introduced an updated CCE syllabus in recent years, with lessons on mental health and cyber wellness as part of the curriculum. He felt that this was a timely enhancement that injected new vitality into the curriculum. He added that mental health and cyber wellness education in this digital age could help students reduce stress and strengthen their social skills, thus allowing holistic development of children and youth. The writer noted that the Singapore Centre for CCE would work with schools to develop innovative teaching methods to improve learning outcomes. As an educator, he looked forward to professional sharing and learning with other teachers, and hoped to obtain more innovative teaching resources to improve his teaching competency.
