Please share with us your professional life’s journey and at which point in your career did you aspire to pursue this programme?

During the Covid-19 pandemic when everyone was working from home, I encountered obstacles to do cold-calling for my previous company’s recruitment. I had to change my approach to reach out to the potential candidates digitally. Introducing our company and culture through customised email to each candidate was very time consuming. I thought that my work would be more productive if we could conduct our recruitment marketing digitally. Hence, I was inspired to enrol in SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP) in Digital Marketing offered by PaCE@NTU.

How was your learning experience with this programme?

My learning experience with this programme was good and enjoyable. We had the opportunity to do hands-on assignments such as developing social media strategies and increase website traffic. We were assigned with individual project where we could practice what we have learnt. The course schedule of this programme was not hectic which was suitable for working adults. I also enjoyed the physical classes where we had the opportunity to consult the trainers to solve the problems we encountered.

Has this programme benefitted you in your career development?

This programme benefitted me in my new career especially in recruitment marketing where I was required to create a website. The technical terms and tools related to digital marketing that I learnt from the programme allowed me to better understand and communicate with my marcom team members. I also learnt how to use free tools to design collaterals such as e-flyer. The knowledge that I gained from SCTP inspired me with new ideas of recruitment marketing activities.

How did you apply what you've learnt from this programme?

The trainer introduced us beginner-friendly free tools that we can utilise for digital marketing. For example, Canva for design work, and Mailchimp for automation & email marketing. I utilised these tools that I learnt from the programme to come up with attractive job postings and share them on social channels. I also developed a website, analysed our target persona and competitors’ digital marketing.

Do you think lifelong learning is important? Please share your thoughts about it.

I think lifelong learning is very important especially in today’s world that's constantly changing. Learning new knowledge and skills helps us to stay up to date with current market and remain employable. Continuous learning improves the quality of our life and helps us to stay active and connected to the society we are living in.
