On 1 April 2025, the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC) hosted a 3-hour professional development Workshop titled “Understanding Neuroscience in Education: How Educators can Leverage Neuroscience to Enhance Student Learning Outcomes” for Rosyth School, with over 30 key personnel attending, including Rosyth School’s Principal, Mr Suraj Nair. The workshop was conducted by Dr Adam John Privitera, Education Research Scientist at the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC), and Professor David Hung, Centre Director of the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC). The session aims to equip teachers with foundational knowledge of neuroscience and its implications for teacher and learning, including an interactive neuromyths assessment to help teachers identify pre-existing misunderstandings on how the brain functions or learning take place. Dr Adam Privitera also shared neuroscience-informed and memory retention strategies on how teachers could apply neuroscience and cognitive science principles in their classrooms.
