Channel 8 Hello Singapore interviewed Dr Sun He on how to create a more effective environment for language learning. Dr Sun shared more on the importance on family effort. There are various factors that would affect children's learning language such as:
1) Language input quantity (e.g., how often the child hears the language) from parents and grandparents would facilitate children’s oral language proficiency.
2) Language input quality would affect children’s language development. Various literacy activities (e.g., shared book reading) would promote children’s oral skills. Parents and children may try to act out a story in dialect to make the learning more interesting.
3) Digital exposure (e.g.., TV, cartoon, songs) would provide additional language exposure to children, which motivate children to learn better.
