Shared Systems of Belonging: Art, Care and Shared Collective Life, Dr Ching Chor Ling

Dr Ching Chor Leng from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NIE NTU, Singapore), has been invited to speak at the Royal College of Art (RCA) Creative Education Network's lunchtime webinar on 1 July 2026.

Convened by Dr Rebecca Heaton, the webinar brings together educators, artists and researchers to explore contemporary approaches to creative education through artistic practice.

During the session, titled "Shared Systems of Belonging: Art, Care and Collective Life," Dr Ching will discuss how care can be understood as a dynamic force in contemporary art and creative education. Drawing on three of her recent works—Home Service (2003), Fountains (2025), and Sound Stop (2026)—she will explore how artistic practice can create spaces for participation, shared responsibility and collective reflection.

Through sculpture, labour, sound and movement, Dr Ching's practice examines the relationships between individuals, communities and their environments, inviting audiences to consider how care is enacted through everyday interactions and collective experience. Her presentation will also highlight how arts-based inquiry can contribute to conversations on education, belonging and community-building.

The RCA Creative Education Network is an international platform that fosters dialogue on creative education across disciplines, connecting practitioners and scholars through seminars, workshops and collaborative initiatives.

The webinar will be held online on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm (GMT).
