How to Apply to LKCMedicine?

Stage 1 - Take the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT)

UCAT Timeline

May to End September

View UCAT key dates for registration and booking here.

LKCMedicine will only obtain the UCAT results from UCAT itself. Applicants should take note of two points to ensure that the School receives the results in early November:

  • During registration for UCAT, indicate that you are applying to international universities that require the UCAT and select “Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU, Singapore)”.
  • Indicate the unique UCAT ID number in the NTU online application form in stage 2.

Stage 2 - Apply to NTU online

Apply to NTU

October to March, depending on qualifications

Applicants will only be considered if Medicine was indicated as the first choice in the application.

Aptitude-based Admissions (ABA)

All applicants must achieve the minimum academic requirements. Applicants who are nevertheless concerned about the competitiveness of their academic scores, and have other exceptional talents, passions, interests, and strengths to highlight, should also complete the ABA portion of the online application form.

  • Supported by an essay of achievements (not more than 500 words; different from the Personal Statement)
  • At least one (maximum two) appraisal online.

First-time applicants for admissions will first be considered under the standard admissions route.

  • If the relevant cut-off scores are met, the applicant would be shortlisted and invited for the interview without being considered under the ABA scheme.
  • If the relevant cut-off scores are not met, the applicant will be considered under the ABA scheme.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend the interview together with applicants shortlisted via the normal route. All applicants would be assessed together.

Stage 3 - Attend MMI

MMI LKCMedicine

End March - April

  • Applicants shortlisted for the Multiple Mini-Interviews (MMI) will be informed by the end of March. View here to understand more on the MMI.
  • For applicants not shortlisted for the MMI and have indicated in their online applications other choices for a programme of study at NTU, their applications will be forwarded to the respective NTU colleges/schools for consideration.

Stage 4 - Offer, Waitlist, Acceptance and Scholarship

Offer and Acceptance

End April – July

MMI candidates will be informed of the outcome by the end of April/early May. As competition is expected to be strong, there will be three possible outcomes:

1) Offered a place at LKCMedicine.

  • Early acceptance is strongly recommended.
  • View Freshmen Guide here

2) Placed on a wait list.

  • Offers may be made as and when places become available. Hence, candidate on wait list need not appeal.
  • We hope to finalise the intake by mid-July.
3) Informed of unsuccessful application

All notifications will be made online, and all offers of admission will be communicated via NTU, Office of Admissions. No hardcopy notification will be sent.

Applicants on wait list or not offered a place at LKCMedicine may be offered places for other NTU courses.

Full-time national servicemen (NSFs) who are offered a place will be automatically considered for disruption under the Local Medical Disruption Scheme (LMDS) by MINDEF. However, disruption is not guaranteed as selection is based on manpower and operation requirements of MINDEF and its decision. Applicants will be informed of the outcome by MINDEF by July or earlier.
