Minor Programme

NTU students who are not majoring in Physics or Applied Physics are eligible to minor in Physics or in Applied Physics. The minor programme introduces students to the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics, and a selection of topics such as condensed-matter physics, fluid mechanics, optics, etc. The minor requires a minimum of 15 AU of Physics and Applied Physics courses, selected from the following tables.
Please note that courses used to satisfy minor requirements must be taken on a letter grade basis (i.e., the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory option cannot be exercised). Students planning to minor in Physics or Applied Physics should file a minor application form before embarking on the programme of study.
Compulsory Core Course
PH2101 - Quantum Mechanics I | 3 AU |
Choice of two key courses
PH1104 - Mechanics (May be replaced by CY1305 if CY1305 is read as an Unrestricted Elective. Not available to students who have taken PH1011, PH1012, PH1801, or CY1308.) | 3 AU |
PH1105 - Optics, Vibrations and Waves | 3 AU |
PH1107- Relativity and Quantum Physics | 3 AU |
PH2102 - Electromagnetism | 4 AU |
PH2103 - Thermal Physics | 4 AU |
PH2104 - Analytical Mechanics (Not available to students who have taken MA1001.) | 4 AU |
PH3102 - Condensed Matter Physics | 4 AU |
Choice of two electives
