NTU Singapore ranked 12th best university in the 2026 QS World University Rankings
In the latest QS World University Rankings, NTU Singapore is placed 12th globally, up from 15th last year. At just 34 years old, the University is the youngest in the top dozen. It improved its scores in employer and academic reputation this year, cementing its position as a globally premier institution. The University also scored highly for its research intensity and volume as measured by faculty citations and scored full marks for its international faculty index.
PRECISE- SG100K Reaches 100,000th Participant
Singapore’s most comprehensive population study, PRECISE-SG100K, has reached a significant milestone by enrolling its 100,000th participant. This achievement was celebrated together with its five cohort partners, including LKCMedicine’s HELIOS, as well as researchers and study participants. Held on 14 April 2025, the event highlighted both the significance of the study and the tireless dedication of the staff working behind the scenes.
Professor Pang Weng Sun Receives Singapore Hospice Lifetime Achievement Award
LKCMedicine’s Professor Pang Wing Sun has been awarded the Singapore Hospice Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to building Singapore's healthcare system and nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals. The Singapore Hospice Council celebrated its 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner on 25 May 2025. The event was graced by Mdm Halimah Yacob, former President of Singapore, who officiated at the awards presentation.
‘A Good Meal’ Initiative by LKCMedicine Alumnus
A project spearheaded by LKCMedicine scholar Dr Chua Tze Hean and a team of young doctors and healthcare workers under the banner of @agoodmeal.sg has grown into a thriving, volunteer-driven initiative, reaching more than 130 elderly participants across 26 outings since March 2024. The idea for ‘A Good Meal’ came during Dr Chua’s second year at LKCMedicine. Since then, the initiative has seen increasing participation from both seniors and healthcare professionals. It serves as a reminder of the compassion present within the healthcare community, highlighting the importance of forging meaningful relationships across generations.
LKCMpower Day 2025
Opened by LKCMedicine Chief Operating Officer Dr Serene Ng, the School’s annual LKCMpower Day highlighted LKCMedicine’s collective commitment to fostering a culture of governance and risk awareness. Held on 29 April 2025, the event brought together 200 staff & PhD students. The programme included industry insights into cyber resiliency by Singtel and interactive games by LKCMedicine departments showcasing best practices in governance and risk management.
LKCMedicine Signs Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Oxford
Dean Professor Joseph Sung signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 30 April 2025 for LKCMedicine with the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford. Witnessed by LKCMedicine Vice-Dean (Education) Associate Professor Faith Chia and Vice-Dean (Research) Associate Professor Sanjay Chotirmall, this MOU paves the way for medical student attachments, collaborative research and the development of Continuing Education and Training courses.
Delegation Visits
On 22 April, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar from University College London met with Professor Joseph Sung and Vice-Dean for International Relations Associate Professor Yusuf Ali to discuss potential partnerships in digital health and computational medicine, with plans for a follow-up meeting at UCL. The following day, Associate Professor Nagaendran Kandiah and the DRCS team engaged with Professor Pei Zhong and delegates from FAH-SYS, sharing updates on cognitive assessment technologies and discussing joint initiatives in digital assessments and biomarker research. On 16 May, the University of Alberta’s President Professor Bill Flanagan and Chief Strategy Officer Dr David Bressler visited for an introductory meeting, where both parties explored collaboration in pandemic preparedness, virology, and connections with Alberta’s Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology. On 18 June, a delegation led by Professor Yuan Zhenghong from Fudan University met with LKCMedicine faculty to discuss ongoing research and future collaborations.
