The past year has been a rapidly growing period for LKCMedicine, with all three divisions – Education, Research, and Corporate Services – excelling in their respective domains. The Education division has continued to deliver innovative and impactful learning experiences with the enhanced MBBS programme, while the Research division has advanced the School’s reputation through groundbreaking discoveries, collaborations and record success in grant awards.

Simultaneously, LKCMedicine’s Corporate Services (CS) division has set new standards in operational excellence. Highlighting the progress at LKCMedicine, Chief Operating Officer Dr Serene Ng emphasised the School’s dedication to continuous improvement and community engagement.

“At LKCMedicine, our relentless pursuit of excellence is matched only by our commitment to fostering meaningful engagement across every facet of our School. From our brand refresh, IT upgrades, to our various outreach activities amongst many other efforts, we have been extremely busy in propelling the School forward, driving transformative impact for our School, partners and stakeholders,” said Dr Ng.

In the first half of 2025, Corporate Services distinguished itself through a series of prestigious accolades; it has been recognised for outstanding achievements in communications, sustainability, and IT innovation – a testament to the respective CS departments’ pivotal role in advancing the School’s mission and values.

One of the division’s crowning achievements is the attainment of the Eco-Office 4-Leaves Award (Elite), conferred by the Singapore Environment Council. This top-tier recognition highlights LKCMedicine’s comprehensive efforts to fostering a sustainable and eco-conscious workplace culture, through initiatives such as reducing waste, implementing green procurement, and engaging staff in sustainability campaigns.

On the School receiving the award, Co-Chair for LKCMedicine’s Green Committee Mr Rindra Ramli shared, “The Eco-Office Elite Award is more than a milestone — it’s a testament to Corporate Services’ unwavering dedication to weaving sustainability into the fabric of LKCMedicine. From waste reduction to green procurement, we are not just greening operations, we are also cultivating a culture that inspires future-ready, environmentally conscious healthcare.”

The CS division also demonstrated communications and outreach excellence by securing the Best of Asia-Pacific – Special Events award at the Council for Advancement and Support for Education (CASE) Awards held in Hong Kong in May 2025. The accolade was awarded for the successful organisation of the 2023 Art & Science of Medicine Festival, a signature event that for the public showcasing LKCMedicine’s innovative approach to medical education, and growing research impact. This recognition reflects the Communications and Outreach team’s creativity, meticulous planning, and ability to deliver impactful experiences that resonate with diverse audiences.

Director for LKCMedicine’s Communications and Outreach Mdm Siti Rohanah Koid said, “It’s been an absolute pleasure to put together this festival for the heartlanders – last year in Admiralty estate, 2023 in Toa Payoh – for which over a 100 staff, faculty, students and alumni came together to present the art and science of LKCMedicine’s programmes in education and research. The award was for our inaugural festival in 2023. Everyone was excited to show and get the public involved in what goes on behind the walls of our classrooms and labs – I believe a first for a medical school in this region.”

Innovation in information technology is another area where the CS division has excelled in. The IT team received the OpenGov Asia’s Recognition of Excellence award for the development of advanced digital solutions that enhance both operational efficiency and healthcare outcomes.

More specifically, the team was recognised for the extensive technical refresh of the School’s Experimental Medicine Building (EMB) Learning Studio including installation of artificial intelligence (AI) cameras for hybrid learning, enhanced sound system, user-friendly AV control dashboard, AI-driven maintenance, and a smart whiteboard for digital note-taking.

Deputy Director for IT Systems & Services Mr Ken Thong said, "This recognition is a testament to our team’s dedication to leveraging cutting-edge technology to create smarter, more efficient learning environments for our students. We aim not only to enhance operational workflows but also to empower faculty and students with seamless, interactive experiences. We are proud to contribute to a future where technology truly transforms medical education at LKCMedicine."

The School was also shortlisted as a finalist in the prestigious Employee Experience Awards 2025 (Singapore), specifically in the category of Best Employee Engagement Initiative for the LKCMedicine Cares programme. This nomination highlights LKCMedicine’s commitment to fostering a positive and empowering workplace culture. LKCMedicine Cares, which has already received the Health & Wellness Initiative of the Year award at the Singapore Business Review Management Excellence Awards in 2023, continues to promote holistic employee wellbeing through mental health, physical wellness, and social support initiatives.

By championing initiatives in sustainability, communications, digital innovation, and staff wellness, the CS teams continue to ensure that the School remains at the forefront of best practices in corporate excellence, thereby playing a crucial role in supporting the School’s strategic goals in education and research.

Echoing this, Dr Ng said that the recent awards received by Corporate Services serve as external validations of the division’s impact on the School’s success and strategic direction.

“These achievements are not only a reflection of our collective commitment to organisational excellence, innovation, and sustainability at LKCMedicine, but also an inspiration for us to push boundaries and set new standards for our School. They validate our strategic contributions and drive a culture where excellence and innovation are not just goals for us, but ongoing practices,” said Dr Ng.
