​AssociateProfessor Cesare Soci elected as Fellow of The Optical Society

Associate Professor Cesare Soci, a faculty member at SPMS, has been elected as a Fellow of the Optical Society (OSA) in recognition of his contributions to the development of advanced nanophotonic materials and their device applications.

OSA is one of the leading scientific societies dedicated to the study ofoptics and photonics. Founded 100 years ago as The Optical Society of America, it has been known since 2008 as The Optical Society, in recognition of its global reach. Fellow membership is limited to no more than ten percent of its membership.

An expert on nanophotonics and spectroscopy, Associate Professor Soci received his Laurea and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Pavia, Italy, and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego. Since 2009, he has been a faculty member at NTU, where he is the deputy director of the Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies (CDPT).

Associate Professor Soci's election, along with the other 97 OSA Fellows Class of 2019, was announced on 22 October 2018 by the OSA Board of Directors. The new Fellows will be honoured at OSA conferences and meetings throughout 2019.
