NTU Singapore and Shanghai Jiao Tong University launch dual degree undergraduate programme in engineering

Engineering undergraduates enrolling at NTU Singapore from August 2026 can look forward to a new dual degree programme awarded by NTU and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) that immerses students in Singapore and Shanghai, two of Asia’s most dynamic innovation hubs.
This is the first such programme at NTU where students can earn degrees from two leading universities in just four years.
The new programme aims to develop graduates with cross-cultural fluency, technical depth, and access to alumni and industry networks across Singapore and China. It is designed for high-potential students who want to study at two of Asia's leading universities for engineering within a single four-year candidature.
For a start, the dual degree programme will be open to Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering undergraduates. Students will graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering from NTU and a corresponding Bachelor of Engineering from SJTU, spending two years on each campus. NTU students on the programme can choose to complete their mandatory 10-week internship in Singapore or China, further deepening their industry exposure and professional networks in either country.
Singapore and China play complementary roles in the global economy – the former is a high-value R&D and global business hub; the latter has one of the most dynamic engineering and manufacturing bases in the world. NTU and SJTU’s new dual degree programme draws on the best of both worlds. Graduates will be equipped for careers across sectors such as green energy, artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductors, and smart manufacturing.
The new dual degree programme builds on the deepening collaboration between the two universities. They already jointly offer several postgraduate and faculty-level collaborations, including the Nanyang-SJTU Executive Master of Business Administration (Chinese) programme, the NTU-SJTU joint PhD degree, the NTU-SJTU Dual Master’s Degree, and the SJTU-NTU Visiting Professorship Programme. Both universities are also actively exploring joint research initiatives.
