Brian Lee Bursary
EEE45 Student Support Campaign
Sustaining students through financial need
As part of the EEE45 Student Support Campaign, the Brian Lee Bursary provides needs-based financial assistance to eligible EEE undergraduate students who may require additional support during their university education.
The bursary was established in honour of Professor Brian Lee, the founding Dean of the NTU School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1981, and to commemorate the School’s 45th Anniversary.
Supported by pooled donations from NTU faculty and staff, alumni, students and other well-wishers, the bursary reflects the EEE community’s commitment to honouring Professor Lee’s legacy by supporting future generations of students.
Purpose of the Bursary
The Brian Lee Bursary helps ease the ongoing financial pressures faced by students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to focus more fully on their studies and personal development.
It is intended for students with established financial need and is different from the EEE Emergency Assistance Fund, which provides short-term support for sudden and unforeseen crises.
Award Amount and Duration
Each recipient will receive S$1,000 for one academic year.
The number of bursaries awarded each year will depend on the funds available. Any unused distributable income will be carried forward to support awards in subsequent years.
The University may revise the award amount in the future, subject to prevailing guidelines.
Eligibility
The bursary is open to:
- Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents; and
- Undergraduate students pursuing a degree at the NTU School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be considered primarily based on financial need.
Eligible students will be identified through the University’s Financial Aid Scheme, with preference given to students who meet the prevailing Tier 3 eligibility criteria under the Ministry of Education guidelines.
The University will have sole discretion in the assessment and selection of recipients.
Recipients may hold other awards concurrently, subject to the University’s approval.
Continuing a Legacy of Care
Through the Brian Lee Bursary, the EEE community honours Professor Brian Lee’s foundational contribution to the School while helping financially needy students pursue their education with greater confidence and stability.
