Cannes Lions International
Over a week in the French city of Cannes, WKWSCI students learn from leaders in creative communication, legacy brand owners and renowned personalities, while immersing in experiential marketing and networking with media and creative professionals.
Filament is an annual showcase that celebrates films produced by the graduating cohort of the school.
International Strategic Communication Management
Students are broken up into groups and placed into professional competitive settings overseas, where they are exposed to the full hands-on process of launching an advertising/PR campaign.
Through News Practicum, students gain first-hand experience creating and developing news in a multimedia, multi-platform newsroom to produce the school's news publication – the Nanyang Chronicle.
Overseas Documentaries You Should See (Odyssee)
ODYSSEE students look at an overseas city or a country and its people for inspiration, personal stories and authenticity, brain-storming for and pitching interesting story ideas while organising logistics of the trip, before heading overseas for their fieldwork.
Overseas Film Festival
Students acquire critical perspectives on the history and theory of film festivals through direct, hands-on experience by meeting and engaging with professionals globally in prestigious international film festivals from Busan to New York.
Perspectives Film Festival
Students organise the film festival from start to finish – from developing the initial concept, to sourcing films, sponsors, ancillary activities, manage ticketing and finances, develop written collaterals and produce publicity materials and undertake promotion efforts.
Regional Strategic Communication Management
Students learn about key issues in public communication and the development of communication collaterals, before travelling to a host community overseas where they conduct practical fieldwork research, and end off with a presentation of the collaterals before a panel.
Short Overseas Journalism Practicum
Fully funded by the Wee Kim Wee Legacy Fund, the Short Overseas Journalism (SOJOURN) practicum exposes students to the challenge of reporting in an overseas setting, such as Vietnam and North Korea.
South by Southwest Interactive Festival in Texas (SXSW)
Students explore the latest on artificial intelligence in the communications field and witness first hand real applications of AI and virtual reality from renowned technology experts such as Google, and propose potential AI applications in the media industry and discuss ethical, social and policy implications.
The Content Lab
The Social Lab: Community Management practicum aims to meet potential and increased demand for community management in the marketplace, and equip students with the new skill sets to be community managers for client and agency environments.
WKWSCI Alumni Magazine
In Online Magazine Practicum, students work as a team to produce the WKWSCI Alumni Magazine, where they hone skills through different roles in writing, photography, editing, design, layout, social media, and gain practice in putting together an online magazine from conceptualisation to publication.
