Living in the age of misinformation demands that librarians be more reflective in our work, which necessarily implies the development of a grounded theory in librarianship, and an appreciation of the historical development of the profession itself.

From gaining a deeper understanding of information sources in the social domains of knowledge production, to an awareness of the theoretical and practical concerns on ethical issues in information work, the MSc in Information Studies (IS) programme has provided me with the much-needed praxis and critical knowledge I need to carry out my work as an information professional.
