Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in Marketing Communication
This is a joint appointment with the Nanyang Business School (NBS). Candidates should possess a PhD in Communication, Marketing, or a related field and demonstrate a track record of significant research at the intersection of marketing, communication, and digital media, in areas such as strategic marketing communication and branding, consumer psychology, advertising and campaign effectiveness, influencer and content marketing, public relations with a marketing focus, or technology-enabled marketing communication.

Assistant Professor  (Tenure Track) in Human AI Communication

The candidate would have experience in one or more of the following primary areas: Human-AI (or AI agent) interaction, human-machine communication, algorithmic mediation and trust, AI in media and communication, multimodal communication, sociotechnical dimensions of AI adoption, AI ethics, artificial society, and critical perspectives on AI in society.

The successful candidate will become part of an innovative, interdisciplinary faculty and contribute meaningfully to our teaching, research, and service objectives. This role offers the opportunity to influence the critical discourse surrounding AI technologies and their intersection with human communication practices, cultural contexts, and institutional frameworks.

The candidate is expected to hold a doctorate in an appropriate field such as Communication, Media Studies, Human-Computer Interaction, Science & Technology Studies, Information Science, or closely related discipline.

Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in Media Policy and AI Governance

The candidate would have experience in the intersection of media policy, governance, and artificial intelligence, with a research agenda that bridges media studies, normative governance, and responsible AI frameworks. The ideal candidate will bring intellectual rigour and policy relevance to questions surrounding the regulation of emerging technologies, the societal impact of algorithmic systems, ethics and governance of AI, and the evolving role of media institutions in the digital age. The successful candidate will join a dynamic department dedicated to advancing research and teaching in communication, technology policy, and digital society. The candidate is expected to hold a doctorate in an appropriate field such as Media Studies, Communication, Public Policy, Law, or a closely related field.

Lecturer in Digital Film and Broadcast

Candidates should have expertise in digital film production and/or broadcast media, with specialisations in any of the following areas: broadcast production, virtual production, emerging media technologies, and innovative production techniques. Strong professional experience in producing content for news and entertainment across multiple platforms in a multimedia environment is essential, along with the ability to translate industry practices into effective, practice-based learning. A Master’s degree in film, media, or a related field is preferred. However, candidates with a relevant undergraduate degree and substantial professional experience will also be considered. Advanced qualifications such as a PhD are highly valued.

The Nanyang Assistant Professorship (NAP) scheme provides an opportunity for outstanding early-career researchers and scholars from Singapore and around the world who wish to build an academic career with us at NTU. Successful NAP awardees will be offered a tenure-track Assistant Professor appointment and awarded a substantial start-up grant (SUG) to lay the foundation for their research ventures at the university.

This is a prestigious and highly competitive scheme for ambitious, outstanding researchers who have the potential to make major intellectual breakthroughs and will shape their fields for years to come. Successful applicants are expected to demonstrate an excellent track record of publications in their field. They typically possess at least three years post-PhD experience and are ready to share a concrete proposal for their next research project that makes full use of the opportunities and resources available as part of the NAP scheme.

Postdoctoral and Research Positions

Research Fellow (WKWSCI)
We are inviting applications for three Research Fellow positions. Applicants should hold a PhD in Communication, Information Studies, or a related social science discipline, and demonstrate strong potential for independent and collaborative research in areas such as information integrity, generative AI, communication and creative technologies, AI for development (AI4D), and health or sustainability communication. Research Fellows will conduct independent and collaborative research, publish in high-impact journals, present at international conferences, contribute to grant proposals, and engage with interdisciplinary teams across the School. The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of a one-year renewal based on performance.

Research Fellow (Communication / Psychology / Sociology / Human-Computer Interaction / Social Sciences)

We are seeking a Research Fellow to support the project “Intelligent Modelling for Decision-making in Critical Urban Systems (Descartes)”. Applicants should hold a PhD in Communication, Psychology, Sociology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related social science discipline, with strong experience in experimental research design, data collection and analysis, and academic writing. The Research Fellow will facilitate literature reviews, develop research protocols, design and run experiments (lab or online), recruit participants, collect and analyse data using tools such as SPSS or R, prepare presentations and manuscripts, and contribute to journal and conference publications. The role involves interdisciplinary collaboration and supporting the administration and management of research projects.
