Professor Christos Panagopoulos elected Fellow of the American Physical Society

Professor Christos Panagopoulos, a faculty member in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, has been elected Fellow of the American Physical Society. The honour was conferred in recognition of Professor Panagopoulos' innovative contributions to condensed matter physics research.

The American Physical Society Fellowship is an honour awarded by the American Physical Society (APS), a leading global organisation of professionals working in physics and related fields. The Fellowship aims to "recognize members who may have made advances in physics through original research and publication, or made significant innovative contributions in the application of physics to science and technology." Each year no more than 0.5 percent of the APS membership may be elected to the status of APS Fellow.

Professor Panagopoulos' research focuses on the development of high-resolution experimental techniques and novel material classes possessing intricate quantum structure. His group connects the quantum architecture of materials directly with new device responses. He joined the faculty of Nanyang Technological University in 2008, after being awarded the prestigious National Research Foundation (NRF) Fellowship. In 2015, he was also awarded the NRF Investigatorship for innovative mid-career researchers. To date, he has published over 140 physics research articles, and delivered more than 250 invited talks at conferences and universities. In addition, he has educated numerous students, researchers, and technical staff.

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences warmly congratulates Professor Panagopoulos for his election as an APS Fellow.
