Selection of the Valedictorian

At each SPMS Convocation ceremony, a valedictorian will deliver the valedictory speech on behalf of the graduating class. The choice of SPMS valedictorian rotates between the three divisions (Mathematics for graduation year 2020, Physics for graduation year 2021, Chemistry for graduation year 2022, and so forth). The valedictorian is elected by the entire SPMS graduating class from a roster of candidates nominated by the School, based on the following criteria:

  • Excellent academic performance
  • Leadership qualities, e.g. high levels of participation in extracurricular activities and community service
  • Good public-speaking skills

Online elections are conducted in April each year.

Second Major and Concentration Certificates

During the SPMS Convocation ceremony, the Second Major and Concentration certificates will be available for collection. Eligible students will be contacted via email by SPMS Undergraduate Studies prior to the ceremony.

Uncollected certificates will be kept by SPMS for two years after the Convocation ceremony.
